Dear FANS
CRITICAL DATES TO REMEMBER !!!!
COMMENT PERIOD ENDS TODAY, AUGUST 16TH AT 4:00PM
End of period for written comments on the DEIR to be submitted. After this time,
all comments are responded to in preparation of the final EIR by the Planning Staff.
In a month or more, the Final EIR will be released for acceptance and approval to
Planning Commission, at which time another public hearing will be scheduled to accept
the final EIR.
****** PLEASE NOTE ******
The proposed Safeway project is not an “Approved Project”
unless the Planning Commission takes a vote and rules in favor of it.
UNTIL IT IS APPROVED, IT IS ONLY A PROPOSAL.
And, with your help, we plan to convince the Commission that this proposal is too
big for the neighborhood. The decision of the Planning Commission can be appealed
to the City Council.
What can you do? Please be active!!!
1. WRITE A LETTER!
We are now in the comment period for the DEIR – this runs to 4:00 PM on August 16th.
Review the document (see link below) and write a letter telling the Commissioners
why you think it is deficient. Be sure to be specific about the things in the DEIR
that bother you the most. This is not the place to say "I don't like the new design",
or "it will block my view". Instead, concentrate on items like traffic, air quality,
and parking, and the impacts of a very large store on the neighborhood. Send your
comments to:

2. VOLUNTEER!
We need people to join us at the intersection of 63rd and College to explain to people
what is going on and how they can help. We are also phoning people in the neighborhood
to inform them of the issues. Click here to email Susan to find out how you can help.
